‘I was very shy and nervous when staring my apprenticeship, I had to improve my communication skills and the apprenticeship was really good for building my confidence. My biggest challenges were overcoming shyness, dealing and severe illness/death and time management. My favourite part of the apprenticeship is working with people with dementia and learning the skills needed If I hadn’t started my apprenticeship I would probably be doing bar work now. I believe an exceptional apprentice is dedicated, reliable, open minded and has a good sense of humour. I would advise any new apprentice to not give up, learn to manage stress and stay positive! I would recommend a career in healthcare because it is very rewarding, you always meet new people and there are plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. I would recommend training with Dynamo because they are very organised and the tutors are very understanding and helpful. There is plenty of support available.’
