Meet The Team

Gail Irvine
Director
Originally a social worker in Berkshire I have worked in Local Authority Community Teams and the NHS and managed Residential and Domiciliary Care services before moving into education. I was curriculum leader for the Care Management programmes for Thames Valley Universities further education team for 7 years, before setting up a training company in Buckinghamshire. In 2012 I moved to Cornwall and created Dynamo Healthcare Training and Academy. I am passionate about healthcare services and supporting the development of a high quality healthcare workforce. I am also a mum of two teenagers and love to design and create dresses and fabric.

After graduating from University in 1997 with a Social Science Hons degree, I went straight into Health and Social Care, and never looked back. I spent 16 years working for Mencap, a not for profit organisation working for adults with learning disabilities. I started as a support worker and progressed to Supported Living Manager, then a Domiciliary Care Manager and then a Registered Manager. Undertaking all the required qualifications along the way. Such as NVQ 2,3 and 4, RMA and A1. As part of the registered managers award I was also interviewed by CQC.
After 16 years I wished to try something new, and moved to United Response for 18months, United Response is also a not for profit organisation working for people with learning disabilities., During my time there I was working with families (parents with learning disabilities) and their children (from age 12 up) _ with learning disabilities. Supporting them in their own home. Challenging but rewarding work.
In 2014 I was offered the opportunity to work as an assessor, delivering Health and Social Care based qualifications to students in the workplace, for the past two years I have worked for Dynamo Health Care Training, doing just that. Delivering Health and Social Care levels 2 and 3, Business Administration levels 2 and 3 , Management levels 3 and 5 and CYP qualifications level 2 and 3. again, challenging but highly rewarding work.

Jenny James
Functional Skills / Short Course Tutor
I first started teaching the Patient Administration System (PAS) at Treliske hospital in 1992, when nurses were starting to use computers. Since then I have been fortunate enough to teach a wide variety of subjects, including management, dance, minute taking, keep fit, first aid, maths, English and ICT; all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
I completed my Adult teacher’s certificate (CG7307) in 1992 and updated this with my Preparing to Teach Lifelong Learning Sector level 4 (PTLLS) in 2012. Having not done particularly well at school myself, I can relate to the more ‘mature’ learner, having been one of these myself.
I look forward to meeting each and every one of you in due course and to supporting you to achieve your full potential.
