What do you do at Dynamo?
I’m a manager assessor at Dynamo working for Dynamo for 8 years and working in the health and social care sector in total for some 25 years. I have had a variety of roles from support worker to supported living manager, and registered manager. My background was supporting a diverse number of people with learning needs and physical needs to achieve what they wished to achieve, and to play an active role within their community.
What are the values that drive you?
I suppose overall that’s what drives me, and what is my favourite part of my role then and now. Seeing people achieve, there’s no greater motivation than that.
Why should people choose apprenticeships?
Apprenticeships within the Health and Social Care are vitally important, and it always has been, but now more than ever. The qualification that an apprenticeship brings when successfully completed is so vital in the sector. It not only gives people the skills and knowledge they need, and the confidence to carry out their role, but it contributes hugely to the skills within the sector and recognises the valuable work people in the sector do. An acknowledgement that is hugely deserved.
As you can see, I’m still passionate about the health and social care, and consider myself lucky to have worked in it so long.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
Outside of work, well, I have three beautiful cats and a gorgeous Jack Russell, and not to forget spending time with my amazing husband and the family, I love that. Or travelling around in our T4, going out on the motorbike and weekends away with my friends. Also, festivals, I started going two years ago, and totally love a festival. I love a good book and a curl up on the sofa!
