Last week the Admin team took part in some First Aid Training!
Chris and Dave led the session, and taught us a range of skills that can save lives.
A recent statistic from St John’s ambulance has revealed that 140,000 people die each year in the UK from incidents where first aid could have possibly saved their lives. Before the training, the team had concerns about what they would do if a situation occurred where they had to perform first aid.
We started with how to put people into the recovery position. Chris and Dave demonstrated and let us try ourselves. The team received feedback and improved their recovery position, to make it safer.
Here, you can see Holly and Ellie demonstrating how to put Layla in the recovery position, with the support of Chris.
The team practised CPR on the Rescue Annie, and everyone got involved. A recent study by Warwick University shows that nearly a third of UK adults (30%) wouldn’t perform CPR if they saw someone suffering a cardiac arrest. After completing the training, the admin team feel confident in their ability to perform life saving CPR if necessary.
As well as the CPR and recovery position training, we learnt about what to do when someone is choking, hazards in the workplace, how to dress a wound and what to do in an emergency situation.
Thank you to Chris and Dave for leading the session!
