Purple Day, also known as Epilepsy Awareness Day, raises awareness for Epilepsy and reassures people who suffer with this, that they are not alone. Over the past nine years, Purple Day has become a global event, and it continues to raise awareness of the impact of epilepsy in people’s lives.
Over 600,000 people in the UK have epilepsy, yet many people do not know what epilepsy is. Epilepsy is a serious neurological condition that affects the brain and nervous system. Many factors can cause epilepsy in someone, for example genetics or a structural change in the brain.
