About Dynamo Healthcare Training Academy
Dynamo Healthcare Training Academy (DHCTA) is a specialist provider dedicated to supporting young people to commence careers in healthcare, through excellent employer partnerships and focussed training and development to meet specific roles.
The Academies aim is to prepare young people for roles as:
- Clinical Healthcare Assistants
- Medical Receptionists
- Social Care Workers specialising in Learning Disabilities or Dementia
- Business Administration
They will complete a 2 stage process over 2 years
Stage 1 – Healthcare Cadet (9 months’ classroom)
As healthcare Cadets in the first stage, young people are given the opportunity to research different healthcare services and client groups to determine what role is best suited to them. They learn the foundation knowledge needed for all healthcare roles. Not only are they be provided with the knowledge and skills they need for their roles, they also undertake values assessments and regular skills assessments within our simulation centre to ensure they can support clients/patients with the dignity and respect they deserve. The Cadetship has a very detailed and comprehensive enrichment programme to support the cadet to identify which pathway they want to choose and job role they want to pursue.
This includes: employer visits, employer presentations, talks from professionals about their career paths, talks from previous cadets and apprentices about their experiences, work experience placement minimum 30 hours, volunteering placements minimum 20 hours, clients and service user presentations about their experiences, one to one career planning sessions, speed dating with employers, practical assessments within the simulation suite to embed practical skills and values, health promotion day where students will campaign to peer youth groups and schools and health and wellbeing and equality and diversity monthly schedule to ensure regular opportunities to increase awareness of NHS Health promotions.
The Enrichment Programme is designed to engage the learner and help them to determine which pathway they want to pursue. Throughout the cadetship programme the learners also undertake CV writing, employability skills training, mock interviews and preparation for working. At the end of the Cadetship the young person is ready to undertake their Apprenticeship with their chosen employer.
Stage 2 – Healthcare Apprentice (12 months’ paid apprenticeship in the workplace)
As healthcare Apprentices in the second stage they undertake a 12 month paid programme, while working in a role for an employer. They receive one to one support from an occupationally competent tutor assessor in the workplace and provided with all the support they need to achieve their apprenticeship.
At the end of the Apprenticeship they receive all the support and advice they need for career progression within their choose area. Where possible we support Apprentices to progress to higher apprenticeship opportunities with their employer or move to higher. DHCT has an excellent success rate with excellent learner and employer feedback.
